Since the year just started, a lot of people are searching the internet on what would be the official color of this year. The most famous reference when it comes to information like this would be the Pantone Inc.
I became curious on what really is Pantone as I don’t bump into it that often. I’ve discovered that is a New Jersey based corporation that is best known for its Pantone Matching System (PMS). The latter is being used by the majority of printing companies as the basis in the selection of colors when it comes to manufacturing fabrics, plastics and paints.
It has been the company’s tradition every year to declare an official color. 2012 was the color of Tangerine and now they declared Emerald, specifically Emerald 17-5641 as the official color of 2013.
When I checked the color, it is one of those that aren’t eye straining and it looks so cool. I even remembered that I got a couple of shirts in that shade and I’m just so glad that it won’t be that hard to look for it in stores.
Emerald belongs to the family of Green and all its shades.
Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.
Do not be shocked if you’re going to see a lot of people in the shade of green or Emerald this year. They are just one of those avid Pantone followers who are just living the declared official color.
